Where it earns its place

Four workshops too small for an ERP—and too busy for guessing.

01

Solo woodshop

Know where the high-value cutters, sanders and measuring tools live.

02

Repair bench

Keep serials, replacement values and maintenance beside each asset.

03

Service van

Separate mobile tools from the main shop without another warehouse system.

04

Trusted loans

Record checkout and return history without adding employee accounts.

The small-shop gap

A spreadsheet knows rows. It does not know the workshop.

Solo owners and small repair shops often face a bad choice: a manual sheet that cannot surface loans or maintenance, or a team SaaS priced and designed for a much larger operation.

ToolLedger stays narrow: one Mac, one owner, a clear photo inventory and the operational history needed to stop buying duplicates or hunting for borrowed tools.

An owner-operated workflow

Tag it once. Find the answer later.

  1. 1

    Create locations

Mirror the main bench, cabinets, storage room and service van without warehouse complexity.

  2. 2

    Add the tool record

Capture asset code, photo, manufacturer, model, serial, purchase and replacement value.

  3. 3

    Log loans and maintenance

Check tools out to a borrower, preserve returns and schedule the next service task.

  4. 4

    Export reports and QR labels

Receive a ZIP with PDF, CSV, JSON and one PNG QR label for every asset.

Small-shop by design

Useful without becoming an ERP.

ToolLedger deliberately avoids employee time tracking, multi-warehouse accounting and cloud fleet telemetry. The owner keeps a focused workshop record on one Mac.

  • No per-user subscription
  • No employee surveillance
  • Loan returns stay in history
  • CSV, JSON, PDF and QR labels remain readable

ToolLedger FAQ

Is ToolLedger multi-user inventory software?+

No. The first release is intentionally for one owner operating from one Mac. It does not provide employee accounts or cloud synchronization.

What happens when I check a tool back in?+

The active loan closes with a return date and remains in the history instead of disappearing.

Do QR labels require a ToolLedger server?+

No. ToolLedger generates PNG QR labels locally from the asset code. The first release does not depend on a hosted redirect service.

Can I export my inventory?+

Yes. The workshop archive contains PDF, CSV, JSON and a folder of QR labels.

How much will ToolLedger cost?+

The planned launch price is US$39 as a one-time purchase for one Mac, with no per-user subscription.

Which payment methods will be available?+

At launch, Polar will process checkout as the merchant of record. Available cards and eligible wallets depend on your country, browser and device, and applicable tax is calculated at checkout.
